With new year just behind us and Valentine’s Day up on the horizon, you can almost hear the romance fizzing as news of engagements abound at this time of year. Here at Trevigue we love a celebration, so thoughts inevitably turn to our wedding barn and the beautifully rustic celebrations hosted here. Our utterly private North Cornwall wedding barn provides the perfect licensed barn wedding venue for couples looking for an intimate and laid back civil wedding ceremony. Our ancient wedding barn here on the farm is easily as old as any church, and provides the perfect blank canvas for you to create the wedding ceremony of your dreams.

We permit only a handful of weddings per year at the Trevigue wedding barn near Crackington Haven, meaning that lovebirds looking for a slice of authentic Cornish life for their wedding ceremony can rest assured that they are among a select few who have said their vows here. The backdrop is breathtaking, with ambrosia countryside all around and just a short walk to the beach (imagine the photos!).

The spot where our wedding barn sits swirls with magic and romance, for these are the very same cliffs that Thomas Hardy wandered with his beloved wife Emma to inspire his hauntingly beautiful poems.

‘You were she who abode by those red-veined rocks far West, you were the swan necked one who rode along the beetling Beeny crest, And, reining nigh me, Would muse and eye me, while life unrolled us its very best.’

And if that’s not romantic, we don’t know what is.

Licensed Wedding Ceremonies in North Cornwall

If you would like to hold your wedding ceremony here at Trevigue then the good news is that it is licensed! This means that you can hold your ceremony here in our North Cornwall wedding barn with up to 45 of your nearest and dearest (or we can act as witnesses if you simply want to elope with just the two of you!) and it will all be certified and lawful. You will just have to contact Cornwall Council to arrange a registrar and the Superintendent Registrar will be happy to discuss the style of wedding to ensure you have a perfect day. You can start to think about booking your wedding up to one year in advance, and they will advise about giving notice of marriage and provisionally book a date for the ceremony.

A Humanist Wedding Ceremony in Cornwall

It is no longer necessary to consider that the only option available for your wedding is either a religious ceremony in a church, or a civil ceremony governed by a council registrar. Humanist weddings are a great alternative for those wanting a non-religious personal ceremony which harnesses the beliefs and whims of you and your partner. They do not have to be devoid of tradition or familiarity, on the contrary, they can be as structured as you wish and can contain many of the familiar rituals and traditional vows. A humanist ceremony is more personalised than a civil ceremony where you just fill in the blanks, and it can be carefully crafted to exactly how you want it. A humanist celebrant will work with you to create a ceremony which tells your love story and incorporates all of the elements which are important to you and your partner. Whilst never isolating those with a religious belief, a humanist ceremony unites everyone in a common goal; to celebrate and to witness the occasion of those involved.

Whether you dream of an intimate civil ceremony or a humanist wedding ceremony in North Cornwall, your wedding day wishes can be realised at our beautifully rustic wedding barn.
